Samuels Public Library: Custom Fiberglass Pergola Kit

Project Overview:

Samuels Public Library staff dreamed of adding a children’s garden to engage neighborhood children in a variety of ways and introduce them to new outdoor experiences. With help from the community, generous donations and countless hours of donated time, this dream became a reality in 2015. The outdoor space now features a multitude of sensory gardens and whimsical educational areas where children can learn while being immersed in nature. Structureworks helped provide cover for the charming story area with a functional, low-maintenance, fiberglass pergola that completes the space and ensures that youngsters remain cool during the programs.

Challenge:

Samuels Public Library wanted a low-maintenance pergola to create a shaded outdoor space where children could enjoy story time under an architecturally pleasing cover. Structureworks addressed the following challenges:

Solution:

With the help of the community and in collaboration with Structureworks, a traditional fiberglass structure with hand finished, custom decorative ends was created. This made for a beautiful addition to the children’s garden while also providing sun protection.
