Project Overview:
White Oak Medical Center, located in Silver Spring, MD, is a new modern healthcare facility. The 48-acre campus features a green roof garden, courtyards and a dining terrace. The building’s wood-like exterior reflects the forested setting it resides in with public spaces filled with natural light and walking trails provided to promote a restorative healing environment for patients, family, and team members.
A custom aluminum pergola, manufactured by Structureworks, is used to provide respite from the sun as part of the outdoor dining area. This low maintenance pergola provides architectural interest and was designed with wood grain aluminum rafters to match with the buildings facade and the wooded setting of the surrounding campus. The shade structure also contains LED lighting allowing the dining area to be used whenever staff or patients are seeking to get a bit of fresh air.
The factory manufactured aluminum pergola was quickly assembled on-site providing a savings in both time and man power. Plus its factory finish is highly durable requiring less maintenance over its lifespan.
