Purchasing a pergola or shade structure from Structureworks is an investment that you will enjoy for many years to come. In order for us to best serve you we've compiled some FAQs and tips to assist you in getting the structure that best fits your project and budget.
Getting Started

We do not offer on location consultative sales and cannot provide installation. We recommend working with a trusted local contractor or handyman to ensure proper measurements and onsite assembly of your purchase.
In order for us to properly quote a pergola or shade structure for you, we'll need the following basic information:
Product Name: Which Structureworks product are you interested in?
Size: When ordering a pergola or shade structure the preferred measurements are from column center placements.
Most standard sizes are described as the overall size with columns being inset from those dimensions
Style: Attached or Freestanding
An attached structure will normally be anchored to an existing wall or building and use two columns, while a freestanding structure will rely solely on the 4 or more columns supporting it.
Column Style: Square or Round
Choose which will best suit the surrounding style or architecture
Color: What color would you like the structure to be?
Structures can be a single color or multiple colors, even though the majority are white.
Installation: Will the structure be installed on a deck, concrete patio or specific footers?
A pergola cannot be installed on lawn or garden pavers and must have a secure method of anchor in order to avoid collapse. Photos of the installation location will help us determine the best installation method for your structure.
Timeframe: Standard manufacturing time varies depending on the product ordered.
Most structures are not available in less than six weeks.
Specific Delivery Address: We require the final delivery address must be accessible to a tractor trailer delivery vehicle.
Changing the delivery address after the order could result in a reconsignment fee.
Delivery
When placing your order you will receive an estimated shipping date from our manufacturing facility in Virginia. Once your shipment leaves our facility it will typically arrive in 7-10 business days.
Once your order has been shipped from our factory you will receive an email containing tracking information. Tracking information will typically be available online within 24 hours.
When your shipment has arrived at a local facility, you will receive a call to schedule a delivery appointment. Someone will need to be present to inspect and unload the shipment at your scheduled delivery date and time.
Two or more people are recommended for receipt of delivery, the driver will not assist with unloading your delivery.
Shipments are delivered curbside via truck, additional freight services such as a lift gate or inside delivery are not included. All deliveries are scheduled for 45 minutes for unloading/inspecting. $50 will be charged for every 15 minute increment (or portion thereof) over the allotted receiving time. If a scheduled delivery is attempted and you're is unable to receive it, storage and redelivery fees may be applicable.
Your shipment will be delivered on pallets which can be unloaded by hand; cut the straps and remove each box or part individually. No special equipment is required. If you wish to unload using equipment, it is still required that you inspect all parts, count all boxes, and individually note damaged pieces or shortages on the delivery receipt or the driver's tablet before signing. Even if the packaging arrives in good condition, there may be hidden damage to your material. Be sure to open and inspect all pieces.
All items should be stored where protected from moisture, dirt, and excessive heat. Do not wrap material so that heat or moisture can become trapped. Ensure that items are level, fully supported, and have airflow between parts.

We do not provide installation and cannot recommend an installer for your purchase. We suggest working with a trusted local contractor or handyman to ensure proper measurements and onsite assembly of your purchase.
Yes, many homeowners do install the structures they purchase from us and while our structures come with assembly instructions we do not provide step-by-step installation instructions.
We have created numerous videos to help with installation should you choose to erect the structure on your own. You may watch them on YouTube.
We recommend working with a local contractor or handyman to ensure that you are installing your structure properly. Installation errors are not covered by our product warranty.
