Project Overview:
Merritt River Apartments, in Norwalk Connecticut, needed an update for their resort style courtyard to provide an inviting community space for resident use and social events throughout the year. With an expansive paver patio, heated pool and outdoor kitchen there was a need to create areas to dine and relax with shaded seating and the option for full or partial sun. Three large fiberglass pergolas were installed to complete each space while the wall pergola over the parking garage entrance helps add additional architectural interest to the apartment’s exterior, helping to complete the vision.
Challenge:
Merritt River Apartments wanted to update their resort style courtyard and parking garage entrance with low-maintenance shade structures to provide areas where residents could enjoy full shade near the swimming pool while adding traditional architectural detail. Structureworks addressed the following challenges:
Solution:
Working with Geitz Design Associates Architects LLC, four low-maintenance, pre-engineered structures were developed with retractable shade canopies for extensive sun protection. This multiple use courtyard was transformed into an outdoor oasis where entertaining is as easy as stepping outside.
Benefits:
Looking to add amenities and architectural detail to the courtyard at Merritt River Apartments, Geitz Design Associates Architects along with Structureworks worked to design multiple and expansive low-maintenance fiberglass pergolas with traditional end detail and retractable canopies. The pergolas provide a shady retreat where residents can enjoy family and friends during a midday lunch by the pool or relax with a drink on the covered sectional near the fire pit. The upgraded space has enhanced the apartment with beautiful architectural detail above the garage entrance and within the outdoor courtyard.
