Anderson University Student Center: Low Maintenance Trex Pergola Kits

Project Overview:

Spectrum Interiors of South Carolina worked closely with Anderson University for the brand new G. Ross Anderson, Jr. Student Center. The 86,000 square foot facility will be the largest building on campus and is expected to bring students together to create a stronger sense of community and create additional places to gather and learn inside or out. Structureworks helped finish the overall design with five large pergola kits providing perfectly shaded spaces on the exterior of the East Patio, Auditorium, West Game Room patio and the South Plaza main entrance. The traditional architecture compliments the look and feel of this growing university.

Challenge:

Anderson University was looking for multiple low-maintenance architectural accents with form and function for students to learn, unwind and build community while under shady cover in the outdoors. Structureworks addressed the following challenges:

Solution:

Structureworks, in collaboration with Spectrum Interiors of South Carolina, designed five low-maintenance, custom structures for sun protection in multiple locations. Students and staff now have access to the outdoors during their daily activities to further engage in campus life at their brand new Student Center.

Benefits:

For continual growth, Anderson University identified a major need; a centralized student center. With indoor amenities and dedicated spaces for dining, a theater, and wellness center they also wanted to provide students with outdoor space to learn and study. Five Trex Pergolas were erected on the exterior of the new facility at integral entry points for total access to the outdoors. Shady places large enough for the student body to enjoy while they expand community ties and relax between classes. As the new visual representation of the university, the architectural detail and low-maintenance quality of Trex Pergola will transcend their expectations.
